Great Harvest Festival 2020

Last Saturday, March 7th, Bodega Garzón celebrated the harvest in its terroir; the most important event of the year for the wine sector in Uruguay.

The festival began in the vineyards, where the attendees participated in the harvest, cutting grapes following the technical instructions of Agricultural Engineer Eduardo Félix and enjoying a unique natural environment, surrounded by native forests and natural palm trees. The winery comprises over 1,000 plots; each one having its own microclimate, with different orientations, sun exposure and soil characteristics.

Then, the visitors were invited to take a guided tour inside the winery, where they learned about the elaboration processes of the different wines of Garzón. The winery’s Enologist, Germán Bruzzone, explained each step of the process, from the moment the grape enters the building to its vinification. In Garzón, each stage of this process is carried out following the highest quality standards, using innovation techniques for the protection and efficiency of energy resources. Bodega Garzón is the first winery in the world to obtain LEED Certification for its fully sustainable design in its entire facilities and functionalities.

Towards the end of the afternoon, the visitors were welcomed by the Bulgheroni family in the square of Pueblo Garzón, where renowned Chef Francis Mallmann offered his show of seven fires, and together with a great team of chefs, leaded by Bodega Garzón’s Chef, Ricki Motta, they prepared a special menu for this occasion, serving over 300 attendees.

The night ended with a candle show in the middle of the square. All the lights were switched off and the only light came from the candles and from Mallmann’s fires, it was a magical moment.

This event blended food, wine, local culture and the magic of Garzón. It was a unique experience enjoyed by visitors from all around the globe, including the local and international press and the people of Garzón. A new success for this winery that continues making history in Uruguay and in the entire region.
