It is with great pride that we announce that Bodega Garzón has been chosen as New World Winery of the Year, by the Wine Star Awards 2018 organized by Wine Enthusiast, the prestigious magazine specialized in the wine sector of the United States.
Bodega Garzón is making history, as this award recognizes the work it has been carrying out for over a decade, introducing Uruguayan wines at an international level, as well as the contribution it has made to tourism and wine culture in general.
This acknowledgment follows the achievement of important milestones: the closing of the fiscal year as the number one Uruguayan winery in exports, the launch of Balasto 2016 in the sophisticated Place de Bordeaux, the opening of the exclusive private club The Garzón Club and the distinguished presence of Balasto 2015 in the TOP 100 ranking of Wine and Spirits and of Tannat Reserva 2015 in the TOP 100 of Wine Spectator magazines.
Bodega Garzón has a vineyard of more than one thousand plots and a 19,050 m² building, designed to be the first sustainable winery outside North America. It complies with the rigorous requirements of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) which approved their LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for the winery which is a certification system that comprises a set of regulations regarding the use of strategies that pursue sustainability.
