Bodega Garzón in the second place in World’s Best Vineyards

For the second year running, Bodega Garzón got second place in World’s Best Vineyards 2020, the contest that awards the world’s best vineyards.

Each year, wineries from 18 countries from all 5 continents, participate in the contest which awards the best places to taste excellent wines and enjoy experiences related to enotourism. The list includes wineries which outstand for their architecture, for being UNESCO-protected ancient cellars, wineries with Michelin-starred restaurants and small, family-run wineries where the owners conduct the tours.

Once again, Bodega Garzón got second place in the top 50 World’s Best Vineyards, from a prestigious list of renowned Wineries such as Opus One, Penfolds, Vik, Château Lafitte, Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Margaux. A great acknowledgement for the winery that has set yet another milestone for Uruguayan viticulture, and a further addition to important awards including being chosen the 2018 New World Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast and the recently obtained LEED Certification, becoming the world’s first fully sustainable for its entire facilities.

The voting was carried out by over 500 experts from the wine world and was announced last June 13th in a Youtube live broadcast.

Bodega Garzón is a state-of-the-art building that has become Uruguay’s most important winegrowing enterprise. Founded by Engineer Alejandro P. Bulgheroni and owned by group Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards, it includes a vineyard of over 1,200 plots and a sustainable building of 19,050 m2.

It also has an exclusive restaurant for 120 diners, with renowned Argentinian chef Francis Mallmann as Ambassador and Culinary Director, and several enotourism activities to enjoy its facilities all year round.

Other milestones achieved by Bodega Garzón in the recent years: the launch of Balasto 2016 at the Place de Bordeaux, the opening of exclusive private club The Garzón Club and the outstanding presence of Balasto 2015 in the TOP 100 of Wine & Spirits, Tannat Reserva 2015 in the TOP 100 of Wine Spectator magazine, Tannat Single Vineyard 2017 in Masters Of Wine, being chosen as Winery of the Year by Patricio Tapia’s Descorchados Guide 2020 and having the best winery restaurant according to Decanter.
